  • 1 ½ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 1 ½ teaspoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 ½ cups warm water
For the sauce:
  • 1 can (14 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
For the toppings:
  • Mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • Any desired toppings such as pepperoni, mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, etc.
Instructions:
  1. In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until the mixture becomes foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the bread flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead it for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Form the dough into a ball.
  4. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours until it doubles in size.
  5. Preheat your oven to the highest temperature it can reach. If you have a pizza stone or baking steel, place it in the oven to preheat as well. It's important to get the oven as hot as possible for a brick oven-style pizza.
  6. In the meantime, prepare the sauce by combining the crushed tomatoes, minced garlic, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Mix well and set aside.
  7. Once the dough has risen, divide it into two equal portions. Roll out each portion into a round pizza shape of desired thickness.
  8. If using a pizza stone or baking steel, transfer one rolled-out dough onto a pizza peel or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. If not using a stone or steel, you can place the dough directly on a baking sheet.
  9. Spread a generous amount of sauce onto the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Add the desired amount of shredded mozzarella cheese and any other toppings you prefer.
  10. Carefully transfer the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone, baking steel, or baking sheet.
  11. Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and melted.
  12. Repeat the process with the remaining dough and toppings.
  13. Remove the pizzas from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
