Flavorful Onion Pizza Recipe
Ingredients:
- Pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
- Olive oil, for brushing
- Pizza sauce or marinara sauce
- Sliced onions (red, white, or a combination)
- Shredded mozzarella cheese
- Grated Parmesan cheese
- Dried oregano or Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley or basil leaves, chopped (optional)
- Preheat your oven to the temperature specified on the pizza dough package or to 450°F (230°C) if using homemade dough.
- Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to your desired thickness.
- Transfer the rolled-out dough onto a baking sheet or pizza stone. If using a baking sheet, lightly grease it or line it with parchment paper.
- Brush the surface of the dough with olive oil to prevent it from getting soggy.
- Spread a layer of pizza sauce or marinara sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Sprinkle a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce, covering it completely.
- Arrange the sliced onions over the cheese, distributing them evenly.
- Season with salt, pepper, and dried oregano or Italian seasoning to taste.
- Sprinkle a generous amount of grated Parmesan cheese over the top.
- Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown, the cheese is bubbly and melted, and the onions are softened and slightly caramelized.
- Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
- If desired, sprinkle freshly chopped parsley or basil leaves over the top for added freshness.
- Slice the pizza into wedges and serve.
