California-style pizza is known for its creative and unique toppings. Here's a recipe for a delicious California-inspired pizza:
Ingredients:
- Pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
- Olive oil, for brushing
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- 1 cup cooked and chopped chicken breast
- ½ cup sliced red onions
- ½ cup sliced bell peppers (any color)
- ½ cup sliced mushrooms
- ½ cup sliced black olives
- ½ cup sliced sun-dried tomatoes (packed in oil)
- Fresh cilantro leaves, for garnish
- Crushed red pepper flakes, for optional heat
- Preheat your oven to the temperature specified on the pizza dough package or to 450°F (230°C) if using homemade dough.
- Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to your desired thickness.
- Transfer the rolled-out dough onto a baking sheet or pizza stone. If using a baking sheet, lightly grease it or line it with parchment paper.
- Brush the surface of the dough with olive oil to prevent it from getting soggy.
- Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and Monterey Jack cheese evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Scatter the cooked and chopped chicken breast, sliced red onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, black olives, and sun-dried tomatoes over the cheese.
- Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and melted.
- Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
- Garnish the pizza with fresh cilantro leaves and, if desired, sprinkle some crushed red pepper flakes for a hint of heat.
- Slice the pizza into wedges and serve.
Enjoy your homemade California-style pizza with its vibrant and diverse combination of toppings!
