Soft, crispy and delicious Naan Puri Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour (maida)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 2 tablespoons ghee or oil
- Warm water for kneading
- Oil for deep frying
- In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder. Mix well.
- Add ghee or oil to the dry ingredients and rub it in with your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually add warm water to the flour mixture and knead to form a soft and pliable dough. The amount of water needed may vary, so add it gradually until you achieve the right consistency. Knead for about 5-7 minutes to develop gluten.
- Once the dough is smooth and elastic, cover it with a damp cloth and let it rest for about 15-20 minutes.
- After resting, divide the dough into small portions and roll each portion into a smooth ball.
- Heat oil for deep frying in a deep pan or kadai over medium heat.
- Roll out each ball of dough into a small circle or puri shape. You can dust the rolling surface and rolling pin with flour to prevent sticking.
- Carefully slide one rolled puri into the hot oil and gently press it down with a slotted spoon. This will help the puri puff up.
- Fry the puri until it puffs up and turns golden brown on one side, then flip it over and fry the other side. This process should take about 1-2 minutes per puri.
- Once the puri is cooked and golden brown, remove it from the oil using a slotted spoon and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Repeat the process with the remaining dough portions, frying one puri at a time.
- Serve the Nun Puri hot and crispy with your favorite side dishes, curries, or chutneys.
Enjoy the crispy and delicious Naan Puri!
